Project Story

Small but Sophisticated Luxury

In the 1970s, ensuite bathrooms were a rare feature in family homes, and while this Nobleton couple was fortunate to have one, the space felt dated and cramped. They dreamed of transforming it into a timeless retreat, a marble-clad, hotel-inspired ensuite that offered both luxury and functionality within a small footprint.

Thornton Design reimagined every square inch of this compact space to deliver five-star comfort. Heated marble floors with classic black accents set the stage for understated elegance, while a Carrara marble shower wrapped in two tile sizes and finished with a refined chair rail detail adds depth and architectural sophistication. A built-in niche, rain shower, and handheld wand bring daily spa-worthy indulgence.

To maximize function, we integrated a full-height linen closet seamlessly into the design, paired with a custom vanity built taller and deeper than standard for ease and storage. Brass fixtures add warmth and timeless appeal, while layered lighting ensures the space feels bright and welcoming.

This principal ensuite renovation in King, Ontario, proves that size doesn’t define luxury. Through thoughtful design, custom millwork, and meticulous detailing, we transformed a dated bathroom into an elegant, efficient sanctuary that feels indulgent and effortless every day.
